Klaviyo Pricing Australia: What It Really Costs in 2026

Klaviyo Pricing Australia: What It Really Costs in 2026

Klaviyo pricing in Australia starts at free for up to 250 active profiles, then moves to a paid Email plan from US$20 a month at 500 profiles, and climbs as your list grows. Klaviyo shows its prices in US dollars, even on its Australian pricing page, and SMS is billed separately, per message. So how much does Klaviyo cost for your store? It mostly comes down to one number: how many emailable profiles sit in your account.

Quick answer

  • Free: US$0 for up to 250 active profiles and 500 emails a month, plus US$5 of mobile messages.
  • Email: from US$20 a month at 500 active profiles and 5,000 emails a month.
  • Marketing: from US$25 a month at 500 active profiles. It adds social marketing, Customer Hub and Reviews on top of Email.
  • SMS: there's no bundled "Email and SMS" plan on the current pricing page. SMS is a mobile messaging add-on, charged per message segment at a rate that depends on the country.
  • Over 150,000 profiles: custom pricing through Klaviyo's sales team.
  • Biggest saving: suppress profiles that never engage. Suppressed profiles don't count toward your bill.

Klaviyo pricing Australia: the current plans

We checked the Klaviyo Australian pricing page on 7 November 2026. The currency selector showed USD on the Australian version of the page, and no AUD prices were displayed.

Plan Starting price (USD a month) Active profiles at that price Emails a month SMS
Free $0 Up to 250 500 US$5 of mobile messages included
Email $20 500 5,000 Add-on
Marketing $25 500 5,000 Add-on
Custom Quoted Over 150,000 Custom Custom

At the time of checking, Klaviyo was also running a limited time offer of US$1 for the first month of an eligible Marketing plan, for up to 5,000 active profiles. Promotions change, so budget on the standard price.

What happened to the "Email and SMS" plan?

Plenty of older guides still describe an "Email and SMS" plan. On the pricing page as we checked it, SMS and MMS are listed as an add-on to the Email and Marketing plans, not as a separate plan.

That change lines up with Klaviyo's move to dollar-based mobile messaging in 2026, covered in the SMS section below.

How Klaviyo pricing scales by active profiles

The pricing page uses a slider from 500 to 150,000+ profiles, which a page read can't capture tier by tier. The figures below were recorded from that slider by Kanal on 24 October 2026, in USD, for the Email plan. We confirmed the Free and 500 profile tiers directly on Klaviyo's page on 7 November 2026.

Active profiles Email plan (USD a month) Emails included a month
250 Free 500
500 $20 5,000
1,000 $30 10,000
2,500 $60 25,000
5,000 $100 50,000
10,000 $150 100,000
25,000 $400 250,000
50,000 $720 500,000
100,000 $1,380 1,000,000
150,000 $1,955 1,500,000

Two things stand out. Each tier includes ten times its profile count in monthly email sends, and the price rises in steps, not per profile. Open the slider yourself before you budget, because Klaviyo can change tiers at any time.

What counts as an active profile

This is where most stores get caught out. According to Klaviyo's billing documentation:

  • Any profile that can be emailed counts, regardless of consent status. Shopify customers who never subscribed can still add to your count.
  • Suppressed profiles stay in your account for reporting but don't count once suppression is processed.
  • Deleted profiles don't count going forward, and they can't be recovered.
  • Profiles with only a phone number don't count toward Profiles and Email plans.
  • If you go over your tier, you're automatically moved to a profile-compliant plan at the end of the billing cycle. You aren't automatically moved back down.
  • All plans are billed monthly from the day you start paying.

Klaviyo SMS pricing in Australia

Klaviyo replaced its old SMS credits with dollar-based, per-message pricing, according to its 2026 mobile messaging FAQ. It applied to new customers from 13 July 2026, and to existing paid customers from their next billing date after 13 August 2026.

Here's how it works now:

  • You buy a monthly mobile messaging plan as a dollar amount, and each message draws it down.
  • Rates vary by channel (SMS, MMS, WhatsApp, RCS) and by country. Carrier fees are built into the rate.
  • Larger monthly plans get lower per-message rates.
  • Each SMS segment is charged separately. A segment holds 160 characters, or 70 if you use an emoji or special character.
  • Failed deliveries are still billable. Inbound replies, opt-in confirmations and STOP replies are not.
  • Unused spend doesn't roll over to next month.

Klaviyo doesn't publish an Australian per-message dollar rate on its public pricing page. You'll find your rate inside your account under Settings, then Billing. Under the legacy credit system, Klaviyo's SMS availability guide lists Australia at 4 credits per SMS segment and 15 credits per MMS.

Sender options for Australian SMS

  • Branded sender ID: the default. Registration takes 7 to 10 business days, and two-way messaging isn't available.
  • Long code: only available with a paid SMS plan. Verification takes 1 to 3 business days, and it's the only Australian option that supports MMS.
  • Toll-free numbers and short codes aren't available in Australia.

Every marketing SMS and email you send also has to follow the Spam Act. The ACMA's rules are clear: get consent, identify your business, and action unsubscribes within 5 working days.

What drives your Klaviyo bill

  1. Active profile count. The single biggest factor. Every emailable profile pushes you toward the next tier.
  2. Email send volume. Each tier has a monthly send allowance. Daily campaigns to your full list burn through it fast.
  3. Your overage setting. You can choose flexible overages, automatic upgrades or stopping sends when you hit a limit. The wrong setting can lock you into a higher tier.
  4. SMS volume and length. More recipients, more segments and MMS all cost more.
  5. Add-ons. Composer, Customer Hub, Reviews, Helpdesk and Customer Agent are each priced separately on plans that don't include them.
  6. Exchange rate. With prices shown in USD, your cost in Australian dollars moves with the dollar. Check the billing currency on your invoice.

How to keep Klaviyo costs down

Every profile that hasn't opened an email in months is still costing you money. Cleaning them out lowers your bill and helps your sender reputation. Our email deliverability guide covers the inbox side.

1. Build an unengaged segment

Klaviyo's unengaged segment guide gives an example you can start from:

  • Person can receive email marketing
  • Received Email at least 5 times over all time
  • Opened Email zero times in the last 90 days
  • Clicked Email zero times in the last 90 days

Klaviyo calls these numbers a general recommendation. If you send daily, a shorter window such as 30 days may suit you better.

2. Run a sunset flow before you suppress

A sunset flow gives quiet subscribers one last chance. Klaviyo's sunset flow guide recommends:

  • No more than 3 emails asking if they still want to hear from you.
  • A grace period at the end: about 3 days if you send daily, 7 to 10 days if you send less often.
  • A filter that removes anyone who opens or clicks during the flow.
  • A final property update that marks the rest as unengaged.

Then build a segment of those marked profiles and use "Suppress current members". The flow marks them but doesn't suppress them for you. See how it fits with your other automations in our Klaviyo flows for Shopify guide.

3. Suppress on a schedule

Profiles that join a segment after you suppress it aren't suppressed automatically. Put a monthly reminder in your calendar, or have a developer automate it through Klaviyo's API.

4. Suppress, don't delete (usually)

Suppressed profiles drop off your bill but keep their history for reporting. Deleted profiles are gone for good. Delete only when you're sure you'll never need the data.

5. Be careful with imports

Uploading an old customer spreadsheet can add thousands of emailable profiles overnight, and consent status doesn't matter for billing. Only import people you have permission to market to and plan to email.

6. Pick your overage setting on purpose

Check your billing preferences now, not after a big sale. Auto-upgrade makes the higher tier your new ongoing plan, while flexible overages add capacity for one billing cycle only.

7. Write shorter SMS

One emoji can cut your segment limit from 160 characters to 70. Keep SMS tight and plain, and you can halve the cost of a send.

8. Pay only for add-ons you use

The Marketing plan bundles social, Customer Hub and Reviews. If you won't use them, the Email plan does the core job for less.

Klaviyo agency cost: what an agency adds on top

Your Klaviyo subscription pays for the software only. If an agency builds or runs your Klaviyo email marketing, that fee sits on top.

We couldn't find a reliable, published Australian survey of Klaviyo agency fees, so we won't quote a number. What we can do is explain how agencies usually price the work.

Common pricing models

Model How it works Suits Watch for
Setup project One fixed fee to build your account, core flows, signup forms and templates Stores that will run campaigns in house Exactly which flows and how many emails per flow are included
Monthly retainer A set fee for a number of campaigns, flow updates, testing and reporting each month Stores that want email handled ongoing Minimum terms and what happens if you want more sends
Hourly or block of hours You pay for time used, often bought in advance Small fixes, audits and one-off help Vague timesheets and hours that expire
Performance or revenue share A percentage of email revenue, sometimes on top of a base fee Established stores with clean data Which attribution window counts as "email revenue"

What you get at different budget levels

  • DIY with templates: you pay only Klaviyo. Fine for a new store, but flows often stay half built and campaigns go out when you have time.
  • Setup project only: a professional build of your core flows and forms, then you run campaigns yourself.
  • Full monthly management: strategy, design, copy, campaigns, flow testing, list cleaning and reporting, handled for you.

Email works best alongside your paid traffic. If you're also running Meta ads, the people you pay to bring in are the people your flows need to convert.

Cheap vs expensive: red flags

  • No list cleaning plan. More profiles means a bigger Klaviyo bill, and that's your money.
  • Reporting that only shows open rates. Ask for revenue per recipient and placed orders.
  • Revenue share deals with long or undefined attribution windows.
  • Templates swapped from brand to brand with only the logo changed.
  • SMS sent to people without clear consent.
  • An agency that wants to own your Klaviyo account. You should own it, with them added as users.

Questions to ask a Klaviyo agency

  1. Which flows do you build first, and how many emails in each?
  2. How often will you clean and suppress my list?
  3. How do you define email revenue in your reports?
  4. Who writes the copy and who designs the emails?
  5. How do you handle Spam Act consent for email and SMS?
  6. What's the minimum term, and what do I keep if I leave?

The bottom line

Klaviyo pricing in Australia is simple once you know the rule: you pay for emailable profiles, in US dollars, plus SMS by the segment. Keep your list clean with a sunset flow and regular suppression, and your bill stays tied to people who actually buy.

FAQs

How much does Klaviyo cost per month in Australia?

Klaviyo is free for up to 250 active profiles. The Email plan starts at US$20 a month for 500 active profiles and the Marketing plan at US$25, as shown on Klaviyo's pricing page on 7 November 2026. The price rises in tiers as your profile count grows.

Does Klaviyo charge in Australian dollars?

The Australian pricing page showed prices in USD when we checked on 7 November 2026. Klaviyo's help documentation says message costs show in your billing currency, so check your billing settings and invoice to see what you're actually charged in.

How much does Klaviyo SMS cost in Australia?

Klaviyo charges SMS per segment at a country-specific dollar rate, with carrier fees included. It doesn't publish the Australian rate on its public pricing page, so check Settings, then Billing, in your account. Under the old credit system, Australia was 4 credits per SMS segment.

Do unsubscribed or suppressed profiles count toward my Klaviyo bill?

No. Klaviyo counts profiles that can be emailed. Suppressed profiles stay in your account for reporting but don't count once suppression is processed, and deleted profiles don't count either.

Is the Klaviyo free plan enough for a new Shopify store?

It's enough to set up your core flows and test them with up to 250 active profiles and 500 emails a month. Most growing stores pass those limits quickly, so plan for the Email plan once your list grows.

How do Klaviyo agencies charge?

Most use a setup project fee, a monthly retainer, hourly billing or a revenue share, sometimes combined. Ask for an itemised quote that lists the flows, campaigns and reporting included, and confirm how email revenue is measured.
